Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin with daughter, Piper
Salon this week posted a stunning exposé on Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s managerial style while mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Of course, it’s anything but the glowing perception one would gleam from the McCain campaign’s patently deceptive ads and talking points.
As Gov. Palin’s thickly padded résumé begins to unravel and the electorate begin to see reality rather than her carefully burnished and manipulated persona, expect to see her sudden meteoric fame begin to crash like this week’s stock of a Wall Street investment bank.
The Salon article confirms a disturbing portrait of her managerial approach as chronicled last week in the Seattle Times, which also noted that she received only 616 votes when first elected mayor of Wasilla — a village with only about 5,000 residents at the time, or no more people than two or three large high schools in many parts of this country. In fact, many student council presidents are elected by far more votes than put her into office.
Considering that her six years as mayor constitute the bulk of her “executive-level” experience, followed by just over a year and a half as governor, her record in Wasilla is more than fair game to anyone wanting a glimpse of how she might perform helping to rescue a federal government facing the most dire economic and foreign policy outlook in several generations. The Salon and Seattle Times articles are hardly reassuring.

She’s an interesting, yet misguided, choice for VP. I dearly hope McCain/Palin don’t get elected, and I’m not even American!
