Bush Reviews His Still-To-Do List,
Threatens Lots More ‘Work’ Before Departing
You saw it here!
For anyone wondering how much more damage the current administration possibly could do in its final 100 days in office, the decider-in-chief has spoken.
According to George W. Bush, he still has “lots of work to do” before riding off into the sunset in January — leaving behind a national debt surpassing $10 trillion.
Uh-oh. Not a reassuring thought considering his past work accomplishments:
- The worst housing and financial crises since the Great Depression.
- Two unfinished wars, in Iraq and Afghanistan.
- A new Cold War with Russia.
- A sharply divided nation.
- Almost non-existent confidence in our government.
- An increased dependence on foreign energy supplies.
- An ever-warming planet threatening a quarter of all animals with extinction.
- A broken health care system that increasingly has become a class privilege rather than a human right.
- Low U.S. prestige throughout the world.
- And a terrorism threat that has grown only worse under his stewardship — with a still-elusive Osama bin Laden and an al Qaeda that is at least as strong as on 9/11.
To name just a few. Most remarkable of all is that he has put forth arguably what-may-pass-as strategies for dealing with only two of these 10 national issues. Now he suddenly wants to buckle down and do the hard work? Sounds ominous. Maybe someone can convince him it’s time for his annual month-long August vacation.
