ANNOUNCEMENT: Change in Update Schedule for DCFOUNTAIN

DILLON’S NOTE TO READERS:
Continued time constraints have forced me to further limit my updates to DCFOUNTAIN, at least for the foreseeable future. Until further notice, as of today commentaries will not be posted on a regular schedule of any sort. Weeks and very possibly months may lapse between posts.
I regret the need for this change, however, I no longer can allow my blogging pastime to interfere with my full-time writing career to the extent that it has over the past year — from the site’s long development stage through its public launch last September and then through the close of the election season last fall.
DCFOUNTAIN was conceived mainly as a forum for me to share news articles as well as posts from other blogs that I found to be of interest — particularly during the lively 2008 campaign. Secondarily, this blog also was meant as a means of offering my own commentary from time to time when so moved. Unfortunately, I found that my fairly deep-rooted political convictions led me to comment much more frequently than I had intended.
My professional training as a journalist prevents me from posting information without first doing my best to verify its accuracy. So between the time devoted to researching and writing, and the surprising time commitment required to handle the technical needs of this very complex site, I often found myself investing several hours per day to my newfound blogging “hobby”. To be blunt, DCFOUNTAIN has taken on a life of its own — obviously both a blessing and a problem.
While I am enormously grateful to the growing number of those who have followed my posts these past months, I hope you will understand why I cannot continue at this pace and why this change has become necessary. I fully realize that I run the risk of losing many who have only begun to enjoy the FOUNTAIN; however, that is a risk I must take.
I am hopeful that at some point I will be able to resume a more frequent update schedule. Until then, many thanks for your patience and please check back from time to time.
