About
Mission
DCFOUNTAIN.COM launched publicly September 26, 2008 with one simple mission: to serve as an original new wellspring of fresh and thought-provoking political commentary on timely news topics and events of the day.
Content
Commentaries appearing on this site always will be relevant and appropriately reverent. However, this blog does not pretend to cover each and every issue cropping up in the political realm — let alone to stay fully abreast of every development within those issues. That would be more than a full-time endeavor, so I will leave that noble task to those with both the time and interest to do so.
Any links to external blog posts or media articles do not necessarily reflect the opinion of this site; they are included merely because I found them to be worth reading and wished to share them. By definition, commentaries will be opinionated. Yet it will be the policy of this site that all original commentaries be grounded in fact rather than rumor, myth or innuendo. Although topics covered occasionally may be issues I feel strongly about, more often they simply will be those that — for one reason or another — have caught my attention and I found them of interest. I hope you will, as well.
Updates
For now, commentaries will be posted approximately once per week, or twice at most…more often if I feel so inspired and I have the time. This wasn’t always the case. In the initial months following this blog’s launch, I typically posted on a near-daily basis, at least several times each week. An occasional day with multiple entries was not unusual, nor was a day with no “spray” at all. Recent time constraints have forced me to limit updates to a less intense schedule.
“The Daily Spray” is this blog’s collection of mainstream media articles and posts from elsewhere on the blogosphere that I have found of particular interest and wanted to pass along — usually with a few brief comments of my own. As the name alludes, my long-range goal once time permits is to update this on a daily basis. But that is many months off. Longer, essay-length original commentaries authored by me will be posted within “Pools of Thought” approximately once every three to four weeks. There is no set schedule for updates to the “Splashing Around” or “Guest Sprays” sections; posts may be added at any time.
Comments
DCFOUNTAIN.COM welcomes any and all feedback made in good taste and in the interest of advancing a civil dialogue on the specific topics addressed in a given post. You may not always agree with the viewpoint expressed on an issue, and I encourage you to use the “comments” section below each post to say so. However…let’s keep the interpersonal discourse respectful at all times. As with any fountain, a debris filter will catch irrelevant, vulgar or otherwise needlessly offensive comments — which are regarded as litter — and they will be sanitized or removed entirely. DCFOUNTAIN.COM reserves the right to permanently ban any violator of this policy from posting future comments, with no prior notice given.
All comments on this site are held for moderator review and typically posted later the same day. Very rarely will comments post more than 24 hours after submission. This site also makes use of gravatars — small images commonly used as globally recognized symbols of one’s online identity when posting comments in forums throughout the Web. If the e-mail address you provide is registered, your gravatar automatically will appear beside your name when your comment is posted. If the address is unregistered, a standard default gravatar will appear instead. You may set your own personal gravatar here, and use it for this site as well as any others that use gravatars.
Subscribing and Sharing
NOTE: Unfortunately, subscription options still are not functioning exactly as they should, so I have disabled them temporarily until the problem can be resolved. These options will be available again in the near future. Please check back.
Soon visitors may subscribe to be notified automatically by feed or e-mail when new posts appear, by clicking one of the options under “Subscribe” in the left sidebar. Options include subscribing via e-mail, RSS or any other Web- or desktop-based feed reader or social bookmarking service. You also may save or share a specific post using any of numerous options at the end of each commentary, including: print, e-mail, SMS/text message, instant message, and most any bookmark manager or social networking service.
