Terms of Use
Content appearing on this site may be used elsewhere only with clear attribution both to the author and DCFOUNTAIN.COM, and if used electronically, a direct hyperlink to the original content on this site.
Copyright Warning
Imitation may be flattery, but plagiarism is a crime. If you like what you see on DCFOUNTAIN.COM, I am pleased that you found it of interest. But if you copy, lift, borrow, scrape or whatever else you prefer to call it, and use the content without attributing it to this site, that is called plagiarism — otherwise known as stealing — and it will be treated as a crime.
Proper attribution isn’t just a fair and ethical courtesy; it’s the law. It is the sole legal means of using another’s intellectual property. Just as I am careful to adhere to common literary and journalistic standards in citing the source of any original material that I quote or use on this site, I expect the same adherence from others.
Unless otherwise noted, all commentaries appearing throughout this site are originally produced, owned and copyrighted by DCFOUNTAIN.COM. Every original commentary — as well as the site’s name, official logo, overall “look and feel”, and the collective contents of the site in its entirety — are fully protected under U.S. copyright laws, which will be enforced and are applicable worldwide under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and a Creative Commons (CC) Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works 3.0 License. This site also makes use of Copyscape — a copyright violation detection service — to detect unauthorized online use of original commentaries from this site.
A standard link to this site’s CC copyright license appears automatically after each post and pertains only to any original commentary that may precede it. This license does not pertain to any material created by others and cited on DCFOUNTAIN.COM; any and all rights to these materials are held exclusively by their original creator.
Reader Submissions Policy
DCFOUNTAIN.COM welcomes reader submissions to “Splashing Around” and may, from time to time, also solicit reader input for other site features offered in the future.
Anyone submitting material for online publication must comply with the following 3 guidelines in order for the material to be considered:
- Understand that this site cannot compensate anyone for material that is submitted for use. You will receive only a credit line in the form of “Submitted by (your name)”, which will appear with the item if you wish. You also may remain anonymous if you prefer; although you must provide your name, this site will not post it online with your submission.
- Cite the original source of the material, including the name of the publication, when it appeared and, if known, the name of the creator (artist, author, speaker, photographer, illustrator, etc.).
- Cite the copyright holder for the material if known, which in most cases will be the same as the original source above, or certify that you are unaware of anyone holding a copyright for the item.
If the material is original — meaning that you personally created it in its entirety — you will need to furnish a signed statement certifying that you own all rights to the material and are providing it to DCFOUNTAIN.COM without expectations of compensation of any kind.
